Unbelievable, eh? Well, I can’t believe it! I’m rushing through computer stuff so I can celebrate (lightly) with the kids. A quick run through of highlights from yesterday’s super amazing birthday bash (pics are on facebook)!

  1. Opening Kit first thing in the morning. “But how did you afford it?” she gasped. “I thought you had fines on your card!” Proving that Madison is confusing check cards with library cards and that we talk about budget issues an awful lot around the kids.
  2. Making Madison’s birthday CD for her party favors and starting it out with this: Madison.mp3 (She chose an eclectic mix that includes the themes from Speed Racer, Thomas the Tank Engine and Zack & Cody, the mp3 to Hamster on a Piano, and a nice segue from the Flobots “Handlebars” to the Elmo rap.)
  3. Hearing Pennie say, “I know I said I’d go easy on the food this year but I changed my mind.”
  4. The beautiful, fluffy, every girl’s birthday dream dress that Tommy bought for Madison. (He says that in Mexico, a big gorgeous dress is a necessary part of the day.)
  5. Discovering that apparently this year we had the perfect chemistry among the preschool party guests because everyone had fun and there was no fighting. (Unlike last year, when we hosted some tension.)
  6. The bike!! The beautiful bike that Pennie and Tommy got Madison. You might recall that Pennie got Madison her first two-wheeler, which she has since outgrown. They brought Maddie out to pop the back of the truck and show her the bike and Madison went nuts — just like she did the first time.
  7. Grandpa Michael (Pennie’s dad) sent some of his own Speed Racer collection including a Speed Racer bobblehead that is just about the coolest thing ever but seriously!
  8. Having our friends and family help celebrate the birthday with us. It was a really wonderful time!!

Today I’m working from home so that we can have a quiet but cupcake-fueled day (there are lots of left-overs!) and can enjoy Madison’s new toys with her. Oh and get on the elliptical trainer ‘cuz I didn’t hold back from enjoying the feast!!
